Easy Ways to Get More Exercise

Whether you’re a regular exerciser looking to get more exercise into your day, or if you’re not very active but looking to step it up a bit, there are many ways to get more exercise into your day without messing with your schedule.

These shoes are made for walkin'. Put them on and get more exercise.

1.) Park It. Stop wasting time driving around the lot looking for the closest parking spot. Doing laps around the parking lot in your car won’t burn any calories. Stop looking for a prime parking spot, and head straight to the back of the lot. You’ll save time and burn calories by parking in the back of the lot and hauling yourself up to the store.

2.) Lunchtime Laps. Sitting at your desk and staring at your computer screen all day will hurt your soul. Revive your mind by getting off your arse and taking a walk at lunchtime. Chart a path on Google maps before you go, so you will know exactly how far you are walking. Then you can figure out the approximate amount of calories that you burned.

3.) Play Date. Are you meeting the girls for a drink to catch up later? Does your dog like for you to spend quality time with him at night? Take these normal, daily activities and amend them a bit. Instead of sitting at the wine bar chugging sangria with your lady friends, meet in your local park and do laps around a walking trail while you catch up. Or, instead of sitting on the couch petting your dog and watching tv all night, take her out to the doggie park. Everyone gets the exercise they need, while still spending quality time together.

4.) Watch and Walk. If you have exercise equipment such as a treadmill or an elliptical at home, put a tv in the room with them. Instead of sitting on the couch to watch your favorite shows, you can hop on the treadmill and catch up on your tv time. This way you get more exercise and you get to watch tv at the same time. Total win.

5.) Save the Earth. If you live in an area where you can walk to the business hub, do just that. Save money on gas, cut down on air pollution, and keep your car parked in its spot. Strap on those tennies and do your errands on foot.
