Go Behind-the-Scenes at the NBC Studio Tour

14 Sep

The NBC studio tour is located in Rockefeller Center.

During our recent trip to New York City, we went on the NBC studio tour. This was a really fun chance to get a behind-the-scenes look at NBC studios.

The NBC studio tour started off with a brief video about the network, which was actually really great because we were definitely ready to six down and relax a bit after trekking around New York City all morning. After the video was over, the tour guides — two NBC pages, rounded everyone up to start exploring the building.

We were able to visit the Dr. Oz, Jimmy Fallon, and Saturday Night Live sets. I think the different sets you visit might vary a little bit according to each tour, but it was really exciting to see them in person! The sets are actually a lot smaller than they appear on television. Our tour guides were really great and seemed to know every NBC fact there is, so they told us some pretty interesting stories.

Our tour was on a Saturday, so there wasn’t much going on in the building, but our tour guides said on the weekdays it’s fairly common to run into a celebrity. This makes sense as most of the shows film on weekdays. I can’t even imagine how exciting it would be to run into Jimmy Fallon, Alec Baldwin, Tina Fey or any other famous faces!

The last leg of the tour involved two volunteers from our group giving a pretend news and weather report behind the cameras, which was fun to watch. We also got to take pictures behind the NBC news desk, which were available for purchase. We bought ours and it’s hilarious! I would definitely recommend the NBC studio tour to anyone. It’s a fun way to spend an hour in New York City.
