Healthy Snack Foods To Bring on an Airplane

15 Nov

Unfortunately calories do count from 20,000 feet in the air.

I’m getting ready to go on vacation later in the week, one that involves a five-hour plane ride. Admittedly I’m kind of a pig, and even for those who are not, five hours is a long time to go without eating anything. Airline food is pretty much non-existent these days, and even when it does make an appearance, it’s often not very healthy. I’m a firm believer in not pushing yourself to stick to a strict diet when you’re on vacation, but there’s no need to waste calories on junk food before the plane has even landed at your destination. That said, being hungry from 20,000 feet sounds pretty terrible, so I find it essential to pack a few good snacks.

It can be difficult to come up with good snacks to bring on an airplane, especially those that won’t make you fat. Avoid choosing anything that smells, as this is rude to your fellow passengers. This rules out most hot foods that you could potentially get from the terminal before boarding the plane. It can also be hard to bring healthy snack foods that need to be kept super cold on an airplane, unless of course you have a refrigerator in your purse, which probably wouldn’t make it through security anyway… Regardless, there are many different kinds of healthy snack foods to bring on an airplane if you choose wisely.
