Don’t Leave Home Without Your Healthy Snacks This Holiday Season

10 Dec

It’s the holiday season and everyone is running around like a crazy person trying to get their Christmas shopping done. Personally, as an online shopping connoisseur, I tried to avoid going anywhere near a mall, but so far I’ve already been there twice. Scary!

Not only do large crowds of pushy people searching for the “perfect” Christmas sweater scare me, I’m also horrified by the fact that making my way through this hoard of crazies might take so long that I’ll get hungry, resulting in an inevitable trip to the mall food court. Eww! The only time I’ve ever seen fine dining at a mall is in Orange County, California where The Capital Grille is actually inside one of their fancy pants malls. Exception to the rule.

The average mall food court has a pizza place, a Chinese place, some type of chicken joint, a pretzel place, a sub shop, and someone peddling grilled red meat. Sure, salads sneak into these places, but they’re of the gross pre-packaged variety. Not appetizing and probably not that healthy.

As a result I’ve learned to stock my giant purse with snacks before heading off to the mall. Not only does it save me from the need to purchase a 2,000 calorie “snack,” it also saves money, so I have more to spend on important things like errr anything with sequins.

Your wallet isn’t your only essential to take to the mall. Don’t leave home without your healthy snacks.

Stock Your Bag with These Snacks Before Heading to the Mall During the Holiday Season:

  • Emerald 100 Calorie Almonds
  • Snack Size Popchips
  • String Cheese
  • Rice Cakes
  • Reduced Fat Peanut Butter & Sugar Free Jelly Sandwich
  • Apple
  • Baby Carrots
  • Container of Cut Fruit

Trust me, you’ll never regret going to the mall and not stopping at the food court. And you won’t have to worry about being mistaken for Santa’s twin on Christmas Day.
